There’s no way of knowing what font they have installed, but we can rely on standard fonts for both Windows and Mac.

I know… I’m just never satisified with my design. I’ve also had several feedback on my previous layout and it didn’t give anyone the wow factor that I expected. So I started all over from scratch thinking how I could achieve this authentic feel, yet somehow maintain that long lasting appeal. I think I finally pulled it together nicely. The whole idea was to keep website fresh by interchanging background design from time to time. After all, a good design should have the flexibility to change elements such as fonts, colors, images and so on without losing the integrity of content.

A while back, I made a choice to use Textpattern (v4.03) as a CMS to maintain BE7A. At the time, Textpattern had better controls in terms of outputing contents and customizing layout. After working with it for a year, I constantly find myself changing layouts that I can’t seem to bring myself complete. I thought to myself, how will I ever get BE7A done if I can’t be satisfied or stick with one layout? Textpattern has its own benefits in development aspect, but efficiency was severely lacking such as organization and maintaining files. It took more time to search where files were located and it doesn’t provide any tools to organize them. One way to look at is, the more files you have the list goes on without breaking into groups or folders.

It’s about freakin time! I’ve changed so many layouts since the end of last year. NO MORE redesign! At least not until the new web standards come along. My first design was a bit bland and I got bored easily. It was my first attempt using strictly CSS without using tables so it was more of an experiment. Then followed by second, third, fouth and finally the last layouts which didn’t give me the long lasting appeal. It just didn’t give me that oomph I was looking for. There wasn’t much room for me to expand particularly on the navigation menu. And finaly a design I absolutely love. I don’t care what you all think, but I take pride and joy with the work I’ve done. It’s simple yet striking which is what I wanted to convey in the first place.

I’m pleased to announce my first entry log using textpattern which is now powering BE7A EX7ENSION. Textpattern had capture my attention few months ago when surfing around online. After reading their capabilities, testmonial, community site, and lurking around their forum discussion, I just had to try it. Basically, it’s a CMS for all kinds of websites. After messing with Textpattern for some time, I have to say it ROCKS! I’m just amazed how easy it is to work with, yet so much depth to learn from. The old ways of coding websites had left me agitated since it took so much of my time. Now with textpattern, organization and customization are the biggest thing that designers and programmers alike could ever dream of. Any type of manual coding would cut down three times the labor. You can simply turn on or off on certain content or rearrange the information with ease. You can always reuse the template and plug in the information with a string of command code. So far I’ve uncovered about 30% of what it is capable of. I can’t wait to learn more about it as I go along.

The good old fashion tables I normally hand code to build website is now GONE! This may seem old news to you, but it took me a while to update this website. I knew about CSS since the pioneer of CSS, but I didn’t bother to emphasise it until now. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about then simply right click anywhere on your web browser and select “view page source” or select “view source” from “View” menu at the top of your browser. What you’re seeing is a HTML code that output the information on your browser. This code barely contains any tables compare to my old website. The previous website was messy and difficult to read. It’s the same as reading a clear concise article compare to reading an unorganized article that would confuse readers.
