SxSWi Reflections & Website Goodies

Okay, so here’s my take on South by Southwest interactive (SxSWi). It was overwhelming! According to bloggers and spectactors, SxSWi was bigger than either the music or movie portions of the conference for the first time this year. They said approximately 16k people or so attended. Don’t take my word for it, just know that SxSWi in my eyes was huge!

You can imagine how difficult it was to meet new people. A lot of my time involves choosing which meetings to attend, finding a good seat, figuring out my way around, endless walking, and finding places to recharge my gadgets. Only place where people get acquainted was after the meetings either at the party or in line waiting to get in the party. Insane was the word that kept popping in my head. Or perhaps I’m just getting old. :-P

During my visit, the buzz seems to be mostly about social media, mobile marketing and location-based services such as Gowalla and Foursquare which received a lot of attention. There were a lot of new start-ups with creative new ideas. Many of them are conceptual trends which has a lot of focus on social and mobile, but trends or not the ideas were creative and unique. I was amazed to learn the thought process behind these innovative ideas. Overall, I had a good learning experience at SxSWi.

I won’t bore you any more details, instead I was asked to share all of the websites I gathered from booths, businesses trade, designers, developers, and the people I’ve met. If you’re interested in learning more about SxSW, simply google them. Enjoy!
