Finally! A design I can stick with!

March 7th, 2006 | Posted in designs

It’s about freakin time! I’ve changed so many layouts since the end of last year. NO MORE redesign! At least not until the new web standards come along. My first design was a bit bland and I got bored easily. It was my first attempt using strictly CSS without using tables so it was more of an experiment. Then followed by second, third, fouth and finally the last layouts which didn’t give me the long lasting appeal. It just didn’t give me that oomph I was looking for. There wasn’t much room for me to expand particularly on the navigation menu. And finaly a design I absolutely love. I don’t care what you all think, but I take pride and joy with the work I’ve done. It’s simple yet striking which is what I wanted to convey in the first place.

Whoo hoo! You’re probably thinking it’s simple and anyone could do it. You may be right about that, but my philosophy has always been about simplicity and having a well define structure. Those are a few key elements that works effectively. Ultimately, I want readers to come back for more rather than suffer the design acute. I’m not saying it’s the only way to do this, but it’s not worth the effort if end users don’t understand what were trying to say to them or can’t see what they’re looking at. I can’t back up my claim, but I read somewhere that it takes less than 10 seconds for readers to look at the website and decide whether they continue reading or depart and never come back. It is my hope to have an aesthetic design that would have a long lasting appeal and entice people coming back for more.

All is left for me is tighten up the rest of the website. You may see some empty section, but I’ll have it ready to showcase in the next few weeks. A few things I’m hoping to do in the near future is to be able to rotate background image using some kind of automated cycle without manually change it. Or have the possibility of a layout selection of your choice. The format will remain the same with the exception of colors and images. This type of methods already exist around the website. I’ve only read about it, but I have yet to research thoroughly and understand before I could mess with it. So don’t be surprised to see few changes here and there.

If you see any quirks on this layout please feel free to make your comment and I’ll do what I can to fix the bugs. This layout has been tested on IE 6, Firefox 1.5 and Netscape v.7. Enjoy!
